The Sooners got off to a fast start Saturday against the Cowboys and never looked back. The final score: OU 49-OSU 17. The Sooners clinched the Big 12 South with a dominating defensive performance highlighted by what I consider one of the best goal line stands in recent memory. The "D" allowed only 10 real points (the other 7 came from an interception setting up a one-yard score).
I was in attendance and the Sooner scoring made me forget that I couldn't feel my toes. OU finally put together a great running scheme and went over 300 yards on the ground. Allen Patrick and Joe Jon Finley went out in Norman for the last time with awesome performances. Patrick went for 202 yards with 2 TDs and Finley caught 2 TDs. Sam Bradford picked up where he left off, pre-concussion, and threw 4 TDs, breaking the freshman mark set by Colt McCoy last year. Bradford now owns the record with 32 passing TDs by a freshman. Congrats to Sam, I don't want to think about what this season could have been like without his outstanding play.
Next week, the Sooners go up against the surging Tigers of Missouri in the Big 12 Championship game. OU beat Mizzou in their first meeting but this game is for much greater stakes and the Tigers are looking for revenge.
