Saturday night was just about as expected. I think I predicted a little lower score on Baylor's part. The final of 52-21 was good enough for voters to move the Sooners up to #3 in the human polls. A big thanks goes out to Illinois for their defeat of overrated and former #1 Ohio State!! OU is still stuck behind the Jayhawks because the computers love Kansas.
Question: If the Sooners, LSU, and Oregon go unbeaten and OU beats KU in the Big 12 Championship, can OU leapfrog Oregon? I say yes. Based on the quality of the win, OU should move past Oregon in that case. We shall see.
Saturday night proved to be another statistical extravaganza. Super Froshes Bradford and Murray each turned in great performances again. Sam Bradford connected for 3 TDs and closed in on the single season TD mark for freshman QBs. He needs two more to break Colt McCoy's record of 29 set a year ago. DeMarco Murray scored four TDs, three on the ground and one electric kickoff return with one minute left in the first half.
The game was another good win and keeps OU on track to play for the Big 12. Next week should be a road test against Texas Tech. Road games aren't the forte of this Sooner team. Hopefully Auston English will make the trip and contribute with some much-needed QB pressure.
