Well, Sooner fans, the other shoe dropped. Saturday in Boulder the 23-point 'dog' Buffs knocked off the #3 ranked Sooners. I'm stunned. I guess this goes to show that you just can't get over-confident, either as fans or as players. It always annoys me when fans of other teams give their excuses as to why they lost. Well, here's goes mine: What the heck Reggie Smith??? He's always scared me by the way he catches punts (by dropping down to the ground), and today it killed the Sooners. If he could have made that catch, the Buffs wouldn't have scored the tying TD. Rant #2: The Sooners get bitten by the replay bug again. The over-turned catch by Iglesias was blatantly wrong. Does any national analyst want to talk about this please?? That catch would have kept the final drive alive and the Sooners possibly could have scored.
The only consolation today is that the Longhorns lost big to K-State!!! When was the last time those two lost on the same day?? Next weekend will not be the Big 12 South mega-game it was supposed to be. Instead, the teams stumble into the Cotton Bowl licking their wounds. Our wounds just aren't as bad. (41-21...ouch!)
No Malcolm equals
no OU victory
Today was every Sooner fan's nightmare. Losing to an unranked, underdog. I know OU is not worse than the Buffs. Weird stuff just happens. We have to get ready for Texas and try to win a conference that might be as bad as everyone says.
DeMarco Murray didn't get
enough touches.

OU vs. Colorado Buzz
Wow, Gundy-gate really blew up this week. I would have never guessed it would get so much exposure. OSU should be so proud of this attention. It may be all they get this year.
Anyway, back to the Sooners. I hear Colorado has a little bit of a defense. And they are playing a RS freshman QB. Sounds a lot like OU. I'm quite sure that's where the similarities end! The Sooners are 23 point favorites in Boulder.
Prediction: Oklahoma 45 - Colorado 14

OU vs. Tulsa: Final Score OU 62- TU 21
OU trounced again Friday night in T-town. I was fairly close on my 59-17 prediction. Tulsa gave OU fans a little scare early on by taking a 7-0 lead, the first time OU's been behind all year. Tulsa's offense was all they had going for them. And even that sputtered late in the game as OU's defense finally clamped down. I was happy to see Bradford bounce back after an early interception. He came right back out and finished the game with 3 TDs and 244 yds. Its good to see OU being tested by a good offense and still dominate in the end. Now move OU back up to #3, AP voters!

OU vs. Tulsa: Potent Offense to Confront Sooner D
Oklahoma is a 24-point favorite over Tulsa this Friday. That's a lower spread than either of the other cream puffs OU had earlier; Miami doesn't count as a cream puff. And Tulsa shouldn't either. They're a decent team and will win a lot of games in the Conference USA. This game will be fun to watch: its on a Friday, its against an in-state opponent, and its the first challenge of the year for OU's defense. I expect OU to cover the spread, though. TU's defense isn't good.
Prediction: Bradford and the boys will put up their numbers again and OU rolls 59-17.

OU gets ready for Tulsa
Hey Sooner fans. What's up with OU moving down in the polls this week?? Rest assured though, it will all shake out on October 6th when Oklahoama pummels Texas and LSU beats Florida.
I haven't seen a spread on the Tulsa game yet. I think TU will give the Sooners more of a challenge than the previous teams, whatever that means. OU wins big, but I still think Tulsa is better than Utah State and North Texas. They're not even the third best college team in Oklahoma anymore. So this Friday is a battle between the top two teams in the state!!

OU vs. Utah State Post Game
Another ho-hum blowout for the Sooners this week. The Sooners, again looked like world-beaters Saturday against Utah State. Sam Bradford was on-the-money accurate in the first half and finished with 3 TD passes, 2 to Malcolm Kelly. Bradford threw his first pick of the year, however it was tipped off the hand of a receiver.
The ground game exploded with both Allen Patrick and Demarco Murray busting big runs and finishing with over 100 yds each.
Once again, the game was over before it began. The Sooners were dominant and covered the 46-point spread. I'm anxious to see where OU will rank in the total yards and points scored categories after this walloping.

OU vs. Utah State Buzz
Its week 3 of college football and the Sooners gear up for the Utah State Aggies. Kickoff is at 2:30 in Norman. The Sooners will put a beat-down on an "Aggie" team, nothing new. With the fast start, OU has seperated themelves from the rest of the pack. The Sooners, along with LSU and USC are far and away the best 3 teams in the nation. There may not be a Big 12 team to challenge OU this season except, of course, for Texas. OU has a two-game losing streak to avenge against the Longhorns. Colt McCoy and Co. are due for a big-time smack down. Can't wait for October 6th.

OU vs. Miami Post-Game Report
Well OU fans, we learned something about our Sooners on Saturday, they are FOR REAL!! Sam Bradford is for real, the defense is for real, and Malcolm Kelly is for real (but we already knew that).
Let's start at the beginning. OU started the game with another impressive scoring drive which ended with a TD pass to Kelly.
The next score was my favorite. Another perfect red zone pass to Kelly, on which Bradford called an audible at the line of scrimmage, ala-Josh Heupel. It was awesome! I am officially sold on Sam Bradford after seeing that play.
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT BRADFORD
WOULD PLAY THIS WELL SO SOON?
Bradford continued to rain TD passes on the Hurricanes hyped-up defense, finding Kelly again on a long throw under pressure, another to a wide-open Jermaine Gresham in the end zone, and then Dane Zaslaw for his 5th and final TD pass.
The Sooner "D" wreaked havoc on Miami forcing the 'Canes to use both of their QBs. John Williams and Auston English played incredibly well by being disruptive in the backfield all day. Williams caused a fumble which was returned by Reggie Smith for a long TD. The defense only allowed 13 total points but turnovers actually set Miami up for two FGs.
I can't say enough about OU's start to this season. And you also can't say OU dismantled a "weak" opponent or a "high school" team like last week. Miami may not be the Miami of old, but they still have some big-time athletes and the Sooners smoked 'em the entire day.
KELLY HAULS IN ONE OF
HIS THREE TDS ON THE DAY
79-10 was pretty cool, but 51-13 on Miami is sweet. Impressive to say the least, especially given a 14-point line. OU may find themselves inching further up the polls again this week. Attention everyone: OU is FOR REAL!

OU vs. Miami Buzz
Saturday may be the biggest game of the year for the Sooners. It will probably even be the best game of the weekend. Forget the LSU vs. V. Tech game. LSU will roll. This game pits two old rivals renewing a bitter rivalry. Miami may not be ranked, but it's OU that has something to prove, having lost the last three games against the 'Canes. Not to mention proving their #5 ranking. Rain is forecast for Saturday and I'm hoping it doesn't play a negative role. Having Allen Patrick and Chris Brown back is huge. OU will need all their backs against this defense. The game should be great. Hopefully, OU runs away with it but in reality it will probably a close one.

OU looks amazing in season opener

Question: Which Sooner player didn’t score Saturday night? Okay, I know it was North Texas but OU looked really, REALLY good on Saturday. The first drive was about as impressive as I’ve seen from the Sooners lately. The rest of the game was a crimson blur of TDs to me. Final score: OU 79 – UNT 10.
All eyes were on QB Sam Bradford…and he impressed. I don’t think anyone expected what we saw from him. He played unbelievably with 350 FIRST HALF passing yards and three TDs. The 350 yards was an OU record for a half. Bradford also broke Josh Heupel’s record of 353 yards for an OU debut. See related story...creamofthecrimson.com
And then there was Demarco. Perhaps a debut just as anticipated as Bradford’s was Demarco Murray’s. Murray ran wild for five, that's right, five TDs and nearly 100 yards. Mossis Madu added another 87 yards and 1 TD. It’s hard to say which Sooner RS freshman played the best, but what is certain is that these guys will be winning some championships if they keep playing like this.
The usual suspects played superb: Juaquin Eglesias, 128 yards and some nice moves and Malcolm Kelly, 118 yards and 2 athletic TDs. (By the way, expect this year to be Kelly’s last as a Sooner, the dude is just too good for this level).
Defensively, what can I say, they allowed only 10 points. They are stout at every position. The line is going to provide some great pressure and the secondary are ball hawks. I’m hoping for the same defensive result next week. See story: Oklahoma notebook: No offense, but don't forget about us...dallasnews.com
This win was more than I could have ever expected from a team with an unproven QB. I knew the team had loads of talent, but this was indeed an impressive performance, no matter who the opponent was. Next week is the real test but I’m going to bask in this win and feel a whole lot better going in to the Miami game.
If the season opener was any indication to how the rest of the year will be, I think I’m going to like this season. Boomer F-in’ Sooner.
