Texas A&M comes to Norman this weekend. The Sooners had the week off and should be well-rested to play the Aggies Saturday night. The game will be shown in prime time on ABC at 7 pm.
OU's chances in the BCS are slipping away. No luck this past weekend as no undefeateds went down. I guess our only hope now is that KU passes OU in the BCS and we can beat them in the Big 12 Championship. I still believe Arizona State will lose. Also, don't forget about Ohio State-Michigan Nov. 17.
Kudos to Sam Bradford for getting the Davey O'Brien semifinalist nod.

Sooners drop one spot in BCS standings
I expected OU to drop after their performance at Iowa State, winning 17-7. The new BCS rankings have the Sooners at #6 this week. OU is proving itself as a very bad road team. First the loss to Colorado and now an squeaker in Ames?? Championship-caliber teams don't play that way to a one-loss team, no matter where it is played.
Sam Bradford was off his game the whole day. I remember at least three chances he had for easy scores when the receivers had the coverage beat. Two overthrows and one under throw. The wind played a part, but Bradford was off.
The running game finally got going in the second half. If they could have ran that well in the beginning, it would have been a blowout. The Sooners need the next week off to get ready for the home-stretch. They will have to play much better against much better teams the rest of the way out, if they even want a chance at the BCS championship. There are still four teams in front of OU who could legitimately lose. Watch for Boston College to get beat by Virginia Tech this weekend. Also, Arizona State has a brutal remaining schedule in the Pac-10.
There is still a chance for our Sooners, but winning by 10 against ISU is not helping that chance.

OU vs. Iowa State Buzz
The Sooners should take care of business Saturday in Ames. Kickoff is sheduled at 11:30 and is televised on FSN. Now that OU's toughest games are be behind them, the Sooners have to stay focused while playing weaker opponents. I'm hoping to see the Sooners light up the scoreboard.
Prediction: Oklahoma 42-Iowa State 14
Several OU players are landing on award lists. Biggest suprise: Michael Cohen on the Ray Guy list for best punter. Good job, dude.
Anybody see the South Florida-Rutgers game? Another undefeated goes down. It was only a matter of time for USF. Things always shake out and now the Sooners will have a chance to move closer to the top in the BCS standings. Keep your eye on Ohio State. If they lose, OU should move past them. LSU and OU are clearly the best one-loss teams right now.

Sooners get ready for Iowa State
The Sooners face the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday. Beware of the upset bug going around that's affecting every top team this year. The Sooners can't let another Boulder Blunder happen. On the road against a lesser opponent, OU has to put up a big win. The point spread is OU by 29 and hopefully they can cover.
Sam Bradford was added to the Maxwell watch list. Can you imagine reading that statement back in August? Amazing.

Sooners #5 in the first BSC Poll
Hey Sooner Fans,
The blog has been on a little hiatus due to a locked-up browser. Man, have I missed some good blogging. Any hoo, let's get down to it. This crazy college FB season keeps getting crazier. With the number 1 and 2 teams going down over the weekend, I'm feeling better about OU's chances at the Nat'l Championship! Seeing West Nile, I mean Les Miles, and LSU get beat gives me a cozy, warm feeling inside.
The first BCS poll was released Sunday. Wow! South Fla at #2?! The Sooners came in at #5. I'll take that. I have faith they'll keep climbing. USF and BC will crack under the pressure at the top. With the way the season is going, there may be only one one-loss team at the end - OU of course.
The Sooners played great again versus the Tigers Saturday. Bradford continues to play amazingly for a freshman. Forget Newcomer of the Year, he's gonna be the first-team Big 12 QB if he doesn't look out. And how about Chris Brown? He's making a case for the starting job. By the way, Curtis Lofton is the team's MVP so far. Another game-changing play by the Jr. linebacker against Mizzou. He's come up big on defense in the biggest games. What a great player.
The season keeps getting better every week. Stay tuned.

#5 Sooners Gearing Up for Mizzou
The Sooners are playing Missouri at home this week. The Tigers are undefeated and playing very well after a dominating win over the Cornhuskers. Both teams are coming off of big wins and the ESPN College Gameday crew will be in Norman.

OU vs. Texas: Big Win in Big D, Sooners win 28-21
How 'bout them Sooners!! Man, this Red River Shootout was too close and too back-and-forth for me. But the end result is still great. The Sooners defense was able to hold off the Horns in the final quarter after giving up big plays in the first half.
First-timer in the Cotton Bowl, Sam Bradford, played like it was his fourth OU/Texas game with an outstanding performance. Bradford was the game's MVP and threw 3 TDs, two to TE Jermaine Gresham. Malcolm Kelly ended his one-game TD drought for OU's final score. DeMarco "Game-Breaker" Murray added a huge 65-yard run and finished with 128 yards and his 10th TD of the season.
This game was filled with big plays on both sides of the ball. Reggie Smith redeemed himself from last week with a big interception and another important broken-pass. The game's biggest play was made by linebacker Curtis Lofton. With Texas knocking on the doorstep of the end zone, Lofton stripped the ball away from Jamaal Charles, forcing the turnover and keeping Texas from scoring.
OU keeps their BCS and Big 12 hopes alive. Big Win in Big D.

OU vs. Texas Buzz
It's that time again Sooner fans. The first week of October. Time for that extravaganza known as The Red River Rivalry. Obviously the luster has been lost on this one since both teams lost this past weekend. However, the game is still important, even more so this year. OU and Texas are fighting to stay afloat in the Big 12 South.
MACK BROWN WON'T OUT-COACH
BOB STOOPS THIS YEAR
The Sooners have more to play for. We all knew Texas was going to fall apart at some point this year. Not so much for the Sooners. This OU team looked unbeatable until last weekend. Stoops, the coaching staff, and the players need to prove that the CU game was a fluke. A big win in Dallas could do just that. Also, the Sooners are playing a revenge game. A three-year losing streak in the Cotton Bowl won't fly. OU needs a win, if not a blowout win, to remove the sour taste from the last two years.
BOB STOOPS DOESN'T HAVE TO FIRE
UP THE TROOPS THIS WEEK--ITS OU/TEXAS!
The analysts say the loser of this game is basically done for the year, and I agree. Two losses before mid-October is disastrous for any would-be contender. There is a BCS game, a Big 12 Championship bid, and national respect on the line Saturday. It must be the first week of October.

Sooners fall to #10
Like most Sooner fans, I'm still in a daze just hoping that Saturday was a bad dream. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Saturday, the top 10 got a shake up like no other. OU's defensive collapse sent them down to #10, Florida lost on a last second FG also, dropped to #7, and Texas fell down to #19. Even USC dropped after barely winning at Washington. So all this makes a Sooner fan even more frustrated. We could have been one of the few remaining unbeatens. But now we're battling just to stay competitive in our own league. The hopes of National Champs is all but gone. We'll just have to hope for a BCS spot like last year. OU is no longer in control of their own destiny. The best we can hope for is that everyone ahead of them loses...twice.

Lessons not pretty...tulsaworld.com
This Saturday, the Sooners have something to prove. That might be an ugly thing for the Longhorns. You can't ask for a better punching bag after a humiliating loss. The Sooners seek revenge, and the struggling Longhorns are gonna be no match. If the Sooners can put up big numbers in the Cotton Bowl, and Stoops will if he can, then they may earn back some much-needed national respect.
