Sooners Get Ready for a Showdown in the Desert

Happy New Year Sooner fans! Its been nearly a month since my last blog. I took some time off to take care of school work. Much has happened since then. The Sooners seem to be losing key players by the day. What's up with that? First Reggie can't go, then it's Lendy Holmes gettin' all ineligible, now another starter is out in DeMarcus Granger . What an ordeal, I thought you had to play for a Florida team to get those five-finger discounts. Now with Auston English "iffy", the D-line will be even thinner against the #4 rushing team West Virginia.

I still have faith in the Sooners even with all the holes. That's because West Virginia is in coaching limbo and have struggled lately. The Mountaineers were overrated all year long and our Sooners will let the nation know that on Wednesday. OU has to let the nation know something other than losing another BCS bowl game. Stoops' team will be trying to snap a three-game BCS bowl losing streak. National pride is on the line people.

I predict young Sam Bradford, Malcolm Kelly, and Co. will light up the Arizona sky against W. Virginia's defense. Pat White and Steve Slaton are good, but they make the team one-dimensional. The Sooners "D" will contain the two-headed monster enough to get the "W". The streak ends Wednesday night Sooner fans!

Prediction: OU 37-W. Virginia 21

Sooners Return to the Desert for Fiesta Bowl

Saturday night the Sooners proved once and for all that Mizzou didn't "give away" anything in their first matchup. OU made the Tigers and Chase Daniel eat their words in a big way by blowing out the #1 team 38-17. The game was a close one in the first half but Curtis Lofton and the Sooners pulled away from the Tigers to win their 41st conference title.

Sunday, the Sooners were selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl against West Virginia. This is the same West Virginia that just lost to Pitt in their conference title game. If that same team shows up in Tempe, OU wins by a land-slide. But by January both teams will be healthy and ready to rumble in the desert. It's an interesting matchup and should be a good game. Hopefully the Sooners can erase the bad memories from last year in the same bowl.
